I understand it can be tempting to try and find a low cost, but just like anything in life you are going to get what you pay for. When your sole focus is cheapest rate, you are going to be left with the cheapest service and headaches down the road.
When you really boil logistics down to its core, it is simply moving goods from point A to point B. Fuel is relatively the same price for everyone, equipment costs stay about the same, wages and other expenses stay about the same. So you have to ask yourself, what is a company giving up to be able to offer the cheapest pricing. The answer is simple. Cheap carriers run a high volume, low margin numbers game. The person who suffers in this scenario is the shipper. Your transit time is going to be longer, the handling is going to be increased and rougher, and if you need any sort of flexibility or expedited transit times, you are simply out of luck.
